Cuil.com Better than Google?
cuil.com , a search engine started by ex-Googlers and claimed by them to be “better than Google” and to index more sites, has started on Monday. From what I see, cuil displays not only the website name and description, but also pulls a photo from the website. The search results are displayed with a black background, and the look and feel is definitely not like Google’s. What about their strange name? Well… who can say that Google was not strange at first, and cuil is based on an old Irish word for “knowledge.” According to Cuil, their search engine has indexed 3X more web pages than Google…
Below are the advantages and disadvantages as I see them.
Advantages
- Website name and small photo both displayed
Disadvantages:
- cannot search by site domain,
- can’t find my website (adamrlee.org) after typing “Adam Lee”
- can’t search stock symbols
- no calculator
- others to come

I’m not a Cuil fan so far… so far i have used the same search terms in both Google and Cuil. Cuil has failed most of the time to find the item I was looking for where as it always appeared on the first or second Google search page. While the image is nice I do not like the layout… so crowded, not simple and clean like Google. And the pics do not always actually match the site.
Cuil has a lot of work to do if they plan to out-do Google anytime soon.. or ever.

i don’t like it… though it’s nice to have pictures, i don’t really fancy the layout – the results are not in a list up down like in google. and i searched for adam lee online and couldn’t find it at all.
