Renewable Energy is a Lie

Renewable energy, when one comes to think of it, is a lie. Nothing is truely renewable, as the law of entropy declares. How can one say that solar power is a renewable energy? The sun actually has a finite amount of energy left to give, and so does the earth’s core when it comes to geo-thermal. How can one say that hydro-electric power is renewable? The process of forming glaciers in the mountains is a result of evaporation caused by the sun. Although the finite property of the sun is hardly a concern to us, the sun is expected to function for a few billion more years… I would like to state this as a challenge to those who use the word “Renewable” from a linguist’s standpoint.

The so called \"renewable\" energy

Well coal becomes unusable after being used, water does not. If I punch you in the face I can still use my fist, but if I hit you with a styrofoam bat I probably won’t be able to use it any more.

That’s true. But you are not getting more energy after punching me, you are losing energy. In order for you to regain that energy you will have to eat something…

ha this is an interesting entry and interesting comments..
i agree that the word ‘renewable’ isn’t precise, but take note other ‘renewable energies’ include wind, tides, etc. which are clean and naturally replenished.
you also talked about that the sun will die some day, this is true, but bearing in mind the sun is the main energy source, when the sun dies, the earth will most probably die too with all the living organisms on it. by then, whether the word ‘renewable’ is precise or not will no longer matter since we won’t be in existence anymore. so i think as long as human beings are still living on the earth, we can say solar energy is renewable. so are the other energies.

I have the same opinion as you, this energy can be classified as “Non-Fossil Fuels”
