Barack Obama and the Special Olympics

Barack Obama is a very intelligent man, and according to his performance in the 2008 presidential elections he is also quite gifted in oratary skills.

However, on the Late Night show with Jay Leno he did what no President should, he belittled the Special Olympics.

The Special Olympics is an organization that gives hope and a sense of purpose to millions of people around the world suffering from illnesses such as Down syndrome.

Obama laughed and muttered Special Olympics after saying how his bowling score was not so good, the conversation is as follows:

“I bowled a 129,” the president said.

“That’s very good, Mr. President,” Leno said sarcastically.

It’s “like the Special Olympics or something,” the president said.

Actually, according to recent results, a 129 score would not be anywhere close what actually Special Olympians score during the event. It seems the sensitivity exhibited before being elected is starting to wear away.
Thankfully the Presdident did send an apology, however the White House in accordance with tradition denied that the President was making any stereotypes.
