IBM Might Buy Sun Microsystems

Sun Jumps Eighty Percent
IBM has offered $6.5 billion dollars for Sun technologies, according to sources on both sides. Sun’s major invention JAVA is one of the main reasons cited for the aquisition. Other assets include the Solaris operating system and cheap server computer designs.
Having programmed in Java, my only hope is that IBM will keep it free to download and use. It is not yet certain whether this deal will go through, but it’s good to keep an eye on it.
