Graphic Photos on Cigarette Packs Should be Used in U.S.A

The United States, while requiring a text statement on each pack indicating that smoking is bad for the health or that quitting will increase chances for survival, has not yet implemented measures other countries have to keep people from poisoning themselves with these products.

Singapore, probably the harshest country against tobacco companies and smokers, requires that photos of mouth and lung cancer or diseased organs be attached to each pack of cigarettes with phrases such as “Tobacco smoke can kill babies” or “Smoking harms your family”. Thailand also has implemented a similar program, and the smoking rate in the country has fallen from 30% to 18%.

Related to this, a Federal judge recently ordered the FDA to allow imports of e-cigarettes. These e-cigarettes will heat up liquid nicotine and simulate the taste of tobacco without the rest of the cancer causing agents found in real cigarettes.
