The Importance of Writing
Writing, putting the pen to the paper or pressing the plastic keys of the QWERTY keyboard or any other way people do it, is salutary in the area of morphing important ideas into structured entities. On opinionated topics, writing helps authors structure or even rethink their ideas after doing research on the subject in order to prove their point. On obscure or esoteric subjects, the writer is doing a service for his readers by giving them something to learn by. On run-of-the-mill down to earth topics, writers can often find the process to be quite relaxing or even an area to socialize with potentially the world.
With the advent of the internet and easy to use blogging engines the masses have for the first time in history a chance to share their voice with the world in seconds. Of course, some countries block blogs and commentaries by default or block internet traffic based on keywords or content matches found, and some countries even prosecute or terrorize the writers of politically minded blogs so what you write or whether or not you choose to share it will depend on where you live. Writing forces you to think in a particular language, and hopefully will improve the way you think, speak, and organize your ideas.
Another great use of writing is to learn the language you are writing in! For example, I will give an attempt at writing the above in Chinese. As a native English speaker, this is challenging but rewarding in that writing Chinese can teach you the characters that you write since the typing system is based on a relatively new phonetic alphabet known as ‘pingyin’.
In conclusion, I strongly urge you to start writing for yourself and if you find this post has spurred you to do so write a comment with your URL so I can read your writing!
我觉得写东西很重要。不但帮你想,而且地球都能看你写什么。我们世界最近就有这个自由,每个人能写他们想的东西给全都人看。我这道我写的中文不呢么好,可是因为我本来就用英文,写中文就会帮的中文。

I agree. Writing is a discipline that we must practice everyday. Also, to write well, we must read good writing.
