Using Constitution to Legitimize Wrongdoing

Today a federal judge ruled that a Missouri State law forbidding protests at funerals was unconstitutional on behalf of Westboro cult member Shirley Phelps. Phelps is part of a hateful family run ‘church’ which is notorious for protesting soldiers’ funerals, yelling and showing signs that indicate that the deceased is going to hell. The ‘church’ is using the Constitution as a defense against their maniacal attempts to draw publicity for their revenue generating web sites by insulting the dead. The lawsuit against Missouri was filed by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of the crazed woman and unfortunately the suit won.

I very much doubt that the founders and writers of the Constitution intended for its words to be taken above common sense, and while other areas of the Constitution are being trampled on (such as the requirement of Congress to declare war before a war is entered in to and the right to bear arms), this one seems to trump the right of people mourning the loss of their dead who fought so valiantly for our country to be disturbed by a bunch of nutjobs cursing the dead.

In the exact same way President Obama and Mayor Bloomberg of New York are trying to legitimize wrongdoing, the virtual dancing on the graves of the victims of September 11 by deliberately building a 100 million dollar Mosque as close as possible to the site of the attacks named ‘Cordoba House’ which was a city named after the conquering of a Spanish city the capital of the Moorish Empire, which was also Muslim.
