From Cuil.com/info: “Welcome to Cuil- the word’s biggest search engine. The Internet has grown. We think it’s time search did too.” I have but one rebuttal to their flashy headline : “Cuil, you are useless and should shut down immediately to conserve web space.” Do a search for “Cuil Sucks” in cuil and you’ll get around 75 results, do a search for “Cuil Sucks” in Google and you’ll get over 80 thousand results.

Unlike Google, if you search my URL adamrlee.org there will be no results.

The search results are displayed with a black background, and the look and feel is definitely not like Google’s. What about their strange name? Well… who can say that Google was not strange at first, and cuil is based on an old Irish word for “knowledge.” According to Cuil, their search engine has indexed 3X more web pages than Google…

Below are the advantages and disadvantages as I see them.

Advantages

  1. Website name and small photo both displayed

Disadvantages:

  1. cannot search by site domain,
  2. can’t find my website (adamrlee.org) after typing “Adam Lee”
  3. can’t search stock symbols
  4. no calculator
  5. others to come
